It was a colourful celebration in the city of Abeokuta as His Royal Majesty Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland celebrates 16th years in throne of his forefathers by confered chieftaincy title to the 17th eminent sons and daughters of Egbaland.
The official presentation of staffs of office and certificates to the news chiefs was held at Palace hall inside Alake palace, Ake Abeokuta Ogun State.
According to His Royal Majesty Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, said the traditional title was zone to different quarters of Egbaland. Their are uncompromising criteria which the authorities examine before an honour was conferred on sons and daughters of the land.
While chieftaincy title are also extended to friends and well-wishers purely at the discretion of the prescribed authorities.
He added that, once someone is honoured with a chieftaincy title, It's a mandatory for him to assist in his quest for progress and peace in his domain. As a Chief of Egbaland, it becomes a duty to contribute ones own quota to the economic, social, political and physical development of Egbaland in all ramifications.
Also, Egbaland become a home to all friends and well wisher who hold her chieftaincy titles. They are expected to feature prominently in all social, cultural activities and festival in Egbaland as a guest of Alake.
Meanwhile, the chieftaincy title was giving to people across the 4 quarters in Abeokuta include Egba Ale, Owu, Agura, Osile among others.
His Royal Majesty Oba Dr Adegboyega Dosunmu Olowu Kangunnere Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Saburee Babajide Bakare (Jamolu 1) Agura of Gbagura, Oba (Dr) Adedapo Tejuosho (Karunwi III) Osile of Oke-Ona, Egba and the president Egba Traditional Council of Obas Oba Dr Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo (Okukenu IV), The Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland.
And According to Egba proclamation of 1st February, 1898 Osile of Oke Ona is the minister of justice, Agura of Gbagura Minister of Communication and works, Olowu of Owu is the Minister of Finance. The Sule is the minister of public order, The Soruntan is the minister of trade and Agriculture, Josiah Olumide is the minister of sanitation and public health and Apena is the secretary to the Government.
