Ogun State female tricycle riders/operators has appreciated the gesture of the Riders and Owners of Tricycle Organization (ROTO) State Chairman, Comrade Ismail Olanrewaju over the exclusion of female tricycle operators from payment of weekly ticket fees during ROTO operational week.
Recall that the chairman of ROTO upon his emergence as the union's state chairman in Ogun state had instructed that Women and people with physical disabilities should not be levied by ticketers across the various branches in Ogun state.
He emphatically stated that the move is to encourage more women into pursing daily challenges that has been overwhelming occupied by the male gender in order for them to sustain their immediate families.
The chairman before coming up with the idea once said "Many women who are decent and prudent would love to ride tricycle and provide for their family if we can help them a little and encourage them since our plans can help reduce prostitution, theft or social pressure from their rich colleagues.
Also, some are young and are already widowed and have no place to seek for help. In fact they are the most vulnerable in the society because they face tough challenges unlike men" the chairman concluded.
Since the gesture of not levying the female riders or operators and those with physical disability has begun it had so far received commendation from non governmental organization and civil society for a thought out plan.
