The end of the year is typically characterized by increase in road traffic volume with corresponding cases of road traffic crashes, gridlocks and traffic infractions committed by motorists.
This information was contained in a press release signed by Superintendent Route Commander Florence Okpe FRSC Public Education Officer for Sector Commander FRSC Ogun Sector Command today.
He said, the Ogun State Government under the leadership of Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun has inaugurated a Joint Task Force which include the FRSC, POLICE, TRACE, VIO and the Ministry of Transportation, in order to maintain sanity on major roads within the state and provide effective traffic management strategies targeted at all motorists and other road users, with the aim of engendering hitch free movement, reduction in road traffic crashes, ensure road worthy vehicles and check the excesses of motorists and riders during the festive season and beyond.
The joint operations is scheduled to commence on Wednesday, 22nd December, 2021. The operations will cover the Abeokuta/Sagamu Highway, Ijebu-Ode/Epe Highway and Abeokuta/Otta Highway.
The joint operations would focus on, excessive speed, dangerous driving, wrongful overtaking, lane Indiscipline, use of phone while driving and driving under the Influence of alcohol among other traffic offences.
The motoring public is hereby cautioned and advised to be law abiding and desist from acts that can pose as threats to them and other road users during the festive season, as life has no duplicate.
