The late Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji, will be buried this evening according to Islamic rite at his resident, As Lekan Balogun may become the next Olubadan, of Ibadan, Oyo State.
This information was revealed by Mr Adeola Oloko, Director of Media and Publicity, Olubadan of Ibadanland.
Oloko who formally announced the passing of Oba Adetunji, added that the monarch will be interred in the evening at his Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace according to muslim rites.

“The 41st Olubadan of Ibadanland, and Chairman, Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji, Aje Ogungunniso 1 has joined his ancestor.
“Oba Adetunji, 93, passed away in the early hours of this morning at the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan.
“He is survived by his wife, Olori Rashidat Ololade Adetunji, Children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
“He will be buried at 4.00 pm today at his Popoyemoja, Ibadan Palace according to Muslim rites. Other things follow later.”
Director of Media and Publicity, Adeola Oloko, titled, “Olubadan passes on, to be buried today,” Oloko stated.
Meanwhile, permutations have since commenced regarding the likely successor of Oba Adetunji.
Already, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Senator Lekan Balogun's name keeps popping up as next in line as the Olubadan of Ibadan according to the laid down hierarchy of ascension the Ibadan throne.
The hierarchical arrangement in the Ibadan system shows a two line approach, the Balogun system and the Olubadan (Otun) system.
Olubadans are appointed on rotational basis to occupy the stool on the death of a monarch. The next to Olubadan and most senior on both lines are the Otun Olubadan and Balogun.
Oba Saliu Adetunji was crowned the 41st Olubadan of Ibadan following his coronation on March 4, 2016.

Oba Adetunji died in the early hours of Sunday at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, Oyo state at the age of 93.
