The Executive Chairman, Ewekoro Local Government, Hon. Adesina Sikiru Adisa, a. k. a ESKAY LODU, has showered eencomiums on the Ogun State Governor, His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for his unflinching support for the sports development both at the state and grassroot levels.
The Executive Chairman showered encomium while declaring open the 2021 Mind Game Sports Competition,organised by Ogun State Sports Council in conjunction with Ewekoro Local Government held at the council's headquarters, Itori.
Hon Adesina, represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon.Olabode Sunkanmi Adegoke urged the youths to take advantage of the Ogun State Governor 's magnanimity to empower them through sports.
He enjoined the participants not to see the game as a do or die affair but rather as no victor , no vanquished.
Speaking at the event, the director of sports, Ogun State Sports Council, Mrs Rotimi Iyabode commended the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, for his massive efforts in the development of sports in the state while she was also full of praises for the Executive Chairman, Hon.Adesina Sikiru Adisa for hosting the competition even with the short notice.
According to the director of sports, the Mind Game Sports is part of many competitions being organized by the sports council which is to source and nurture the budding talents, and build result oriented athletes for the state. She spoke further that the competition is not only designed to discover budding talents but to also develop the youths mentally.
The Mind Game Sports comprising of AYO, DRAUGHT and CHESS were keenly contested for by various participants drawn from the nooks and crannies of the council area.
Winners went home with cash prizes while there were equally consolatory prizes for the runners up.
The emerging winners will contest with winners from the other zones in the next stage of the competition.
