A Serving Senator of All Progressive Congress, (APC), in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin has charged members of the party to remain focused and united as the 2023 general elections draws nearer in order to enable them strategically win and return the party to power after the polls.
Folarin gave the charge at the open declaration ceremony of his interest to run for office of the governor in the forthcoming election at the party secretariat, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
He said he is most qualified to govern Oyo State going by his political antecedents and experience, especially as a senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
According to Folarin who represent Oyo South in the Senate, the people of the state are yet to enjoy real dividends of democracy due to lack of experience on the part of the incumbent governor of the state.
"As an experienced politician, I am most Qualified to govern Oyo State. Governance is not by being wealthy, it is about high level of experience to put a round peg in a round hole.
"I am well prepared to offer the people of the state a new lease of life if given the mandate as governor of the state come 2023."
Also at the programme, a serving Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Senator, Senator Kola Balogun and other principal members of Labour Party defected to APC.
Balogun told the gathering the his defection was to enable him chat a new course for his political career
He charged members of the party to remain united and work together for the victory of APC in 2023 elections
Addressing Journalists at the programme, Chairman Oyo Central Senatorial District of APC Honourable (Dr) Oyebamiji Joshua described the programme as a welcome development and conclusion of the party's victory in the forthcoming elections, adding that the declaration of Senator Folarin for office of the governor and defection of Senator Kola Balogun to the party are revelations APC's victory in 2023.
Speaking , chairman of the party Honourable Isaac Omodewu assured party faithfuls that the party will return to power in the state in 2023, urging them to continue to show commitment to the progress of the party.
"There is no cause for alarm APC will return to power after the election because victory is sure for us. As progressives, we will take over both the state and the centre and peace and security of lives and property will return to Oyo State.
