Ogun Workers Are Loyal, Committed- HoS

The Governor Dapo Abiodun led administration has recognized the efforts of its Staff, as well as their loyalty and commitment and was desirous to empower them to achieve more for the good of all.

Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro who stated this at a 2-Day workshop for another batch of Public Officers with the theme " Entrenching Job Ethics And Productivity Competence in Public Officers" put together by the Bureau of Establishments and Training in collaboration with Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) Consultancy Service, held at the Staff Development Centre, Oke- Ilewo, Abeokuta, thanked the workers for their sacrifices and selfless service towards achieving the Ogun State of everyone's dream.

Dr. Aigoro explained that, the Government recognized the fact that the successful implementation of its plans, and achievement of set goals depended largely on the capacity of its Staff and the believe in training and re-training of officers as part of its human development efforts.

" Capacity building, according to Wikipedia, is the improvement in an individual or organization's facility to produce, perform or deploy. The word improvement suggests that there is an existing level of performance that needs to be upgraded for effectiveness and efficiency. This therefore means that Government as an employer, recognizes the efforts of its staff and is desirous to empower them to achieve more for the good of all. I therefore seize this opportunity to thank the entire workforce of Ogun State for their loyalty and commitment, and for their sacrifice and selfless service towards achieving the Ogun State of our dream, in spite of all challenges.

Having done all this, it is expected that the staff will reciprocate the good gesture from government with improved productivity. I therefore enjoin the participants to take full advantage of this opportunity, not only to ensure improvement at their jobs, but also for improvement in their personal lives. Apart from this training, I enjoin all staff to pick interest in self-development, either by furthering their studies in the higher institutions or by attending virtual trainings and workshops which will broaden their reasoning and improve their performance" the HoS said.

In his goodwill message, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Commission, Mr Adedayo Somoye, urged the participants to see the training as an improvement on what they were doing in their offices, calling on them to encourage the Bureau to keep doing more by their performances.

In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Lydia Fajounbo, said that the participants now have new roles to perform and  they have to be equipped to play the new roles effectively, hence, the training

She appreciated Governor Dapo Abiodun for approval and the HoS for always supporting, especially as the hall was experiencing remarkable changes,

Imploring the participants to make good use of the training in their various MDAs.

Speaking on the topic " Fecundity of Work Ethics In Public Service Delivery" one of the facilitator, Dr. Olugbenga Akintola asked everyone to uphold some principles such as honesty, obedience, confidentiality, mercy, hope, integrity, avoiding conflict of interest, refraining from willingly harming colleagues or organisation amongst others.

In a communique issued at the end of the training, the participants observed that work ethics was essential to increase professionalism in the workforce, thanking the Government and the organizers of the workshop for the in- depth knowledge imparted on them and recommended that the code of ethics guiding the Civil Service be reviewed and remodelled in line with current realities.
