It was a gathering of who is who in the Islamic circle in Ogun State and encomium galore on Friday the 3rd of June, 2022 as the Federation of Muslim Women's Association of Nigeria, ( FOMWAN) inaugurated a Medical Screening Centre for the use of Muslims and non- Muslims alike.
The medical centre comprises of places where people can check their blood sugar, blood pressure, scanning machine for pelvic and abdominal scan among other facilities.
The Amirah of FOMWAN, Ogun State, Alhaja Kudirat Yeni Rabiu explained the rationale for the provision of the health facility this way.
"This project is facilitated in a bid to have impact on people's medicals and for them to have access to qualitative and affordable Medical Services", adding that the project has added more feathers to the previous achievements of the Association under her leadership.
She listed some of the achievements earlier recorded during her tenure to include: construction of Mosque for female inmates at Ijebu-Ode Correcrional Centre, sinking of borehole in Ijeun-Titun Community, Abeokuta to ameliorate water problem being faced by the community, distribution of face masks, sanitizers and liquid soaps to villages and communities during the Covid-19 pandemic.
She expressed gratitude to the donor, the Chairman, Al-Rahman Zakat Foundation, Alhaji Abdul Hamid Femi Omotayo for the gesture while also appreciating the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun and his wife Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun and the Deputy Governor, Engineer Noimot Oyedele for throwing political weight behind the association, which has gone a long way to contribute to tbe achievements recorded under her leadership.
The donor, Alhaji Abdul Hamid Femi Omotayo in a remark said donating the project is part of collaboration with FOMWAN to uplift Islam, while also saying that it was discovered that the environment where the project is located is in need of it.
He assured that more collaborations are still underway in terms of empowerment and training for the youths to further uplift Islam.
He spoke on the essence of charity in Islam" Charity is fundamental to islam. Apart from Zadakat, it is a way of showing appreciation for what God has done no matter how small it is".
In a goodwill message, the Secretary General, Ogun State Muslim Council, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde described the success being recorded by the present leadership of FOMWAN in Ogun State as a product of efforts of past leadership of the association
Making reference to the statement " Compared to health, everything in life is secondary, Alhaji Akintunde Harped on the important of good health for mankind, but lamented that most people do not pay attention to their health.
He added that the project is a good way to showcase FOMWAN at the global level.
Alhaji Akintunde who said the effort is equivalent to contributing to nation building urged the association to extend the use of the facility to Muslims and none Muslims alike since health is a universal thing that know no tribe or religion..
Also speaking, the Coordinator , Civil Society Group on Sustainable Development, Mrs. Moji Akinsanya expressed her surprise for the laudable project, adding that the project covers some substantial parts of Sustainable Development Project specifically SDG 3 regarding good health and well being and SDG 5, which is about gender equality.
Other dignatories who spoke in a goodwill message include, Dr.Rabiu Kusimo, former Amirah of FOMWAN, Alhaja Khadijat Isola, Mrs Sherifat Eniola Atanda, Mr. Tola Adenekan, Ustas Jubil Awal and Alhaja Ramota Osibanjo all of whom spoke glowingly about the activities of FOMWAN under the leadership of Alhaja Kudirat Rabiu.
