By Jumoke Adeogun, Abeokuta

The State Commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Command Headquarters, Abeokuta, Commandant Niyi L. Ajibola, received the Federal Mines Officer, Engr. Bunmi Ayelabola, at the State Command's Permanent Site, Owu Dekudu Village, Off Kobape Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Thursday, July 28, 2022.

While Engr. Ayelabola was reminiscing on the earlier familiarisation visit of the State Commandant to his office last week where he also promised to return the visit for the quick response of the State Commandant at salvaging the relationship between the State Command and the Federal Ministry of Mines and Steel Development (FMMSD).

He said, that he will work assiduously with the State Command across all units and/or departments that has anything to do in the area of mining and other related activities.

Particularly, he noted that it will be of interest if the State Command could institute a Rapid Response Squad/Team (RRS/T) which will be on ground regularly for emergency cases and for appropriate monitoring of mining activities across the State aimed at taming incessant illegal mining without the appropriate due processes.

"Sir, I have known that I will work with you and your men the very first day you stepped into my office at the Federal Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta and I'm saying it again, I will work assiduously with you and your men to make the State and indeed, the nation as a safe haven for all in terms of illegal mining activities", he added.

In his own reaction, the State Commandant noted that part of his own key assignment as directed by the Corps Commandant General, Ahmed Abubakar Audi (PhD, mni), is to synergise and collaborate with all towards service delivery and proactive intelligence gathering, amongst other directives.

Commandant Ajibola noted that he will do everything within his powers to ensure that the mandates of the Corps as handed down from the National Headquarters, Abuja, is appropriately followed to the letter. Dyke Ogbonnaya (anipr) Public Relations Officer NSCDC Ogun State Command
