RELIGIOUS LEADERS ADVISED ON CONSISTENT MORAL VALUES PREACHING

By Jumoke Adeogun, Abeokuta

Religious leaders have been advised to always reflect in their sermons the moral values that can purge the youths of social vices, particularly the ‘get rich quick’ syndrome.

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made this known at a special prayer session at the Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta, organised by the Apex Ruling body for Council of Obas in Egbaland tagged: "That, we all may be one, come let us build the wall of Egbaland together"

Governor Abiodun said it was imperative for religious leaders, parents, guardians, and those saddled with the care of young minds to inculcate good morals in children, attesting that all social vices that threatened peace, and progress of the land were results of bad nurturing.

Prince Abiodun, represented by immediate past Chief of Staff to the  Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Salisu commended the organiser for the joint prayer session of a different faith, maintained that unity, peaceful co-existence, and a common goal were prerequisites that would lead an entity to achieve meaningful socio-economic advancement and progress of the land.

He submitted that Christians, Muslims, and Traditional worshipers should endeavour to live in peace and harmony at all times, admonishing them to remain steadfast and committed to advancing the unity among all religious bodies, while sustaining the peaceful co-habitation of all ethnic groups in Egbaland.

The Governor appreciated the people of Egbaland for their continued support since his assumption of office, promising to remain focused on the task of providing qualitative leadership and good governance to the entire people of the State.

Earlier in his opening remark, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, said the prayer session was conceived to solidify and sustain the relationship among different faiths across Egbaland, to ensure continued peace, love, and unity for the overall development of Egbaland, Ogun State, and Nigeria as a whole in the land.

The event had in attendance other Monarchs which include;  the Osile Oke-Ona Egba, Oba (Dr.) Adedapo Tejuoso, Agura of Gbagura, Oba (Dr.) Saburee Bakre and leaders of different religious bodies, among others.
