The Olu and paramount ruler of Yewaland ,Oba Kehinde Olugbenle has said that the Yewaland would wait till 2027 for governiship seat .
The paramount monarch said the Yewa was not interested in governiship position in 2023 election .
Apparently reacting to the emergence of Biyi Otegbeye as the governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress from Yewaland .
It was gathered that loyalists of Otegbeye had sought the help of the Monarch for the governiship ambition.
The loyalists had approached the monarch to throw his weight behind the only governosship candidate from Ogun west which comprises Yewa and Awori .
The monarch who spoke on Sunday at the installation of former deputy governor as the Iya Adeen of Ogun state by the League of Imams and Alfas in the state , said Yewa was not in a hurry to get governiship position in 2023 but in 2027.
Oba Olugbenle publicly threw his weight behind the second term bid of the State governor , Dapo Abiodun, saying, the people of the area have decided to support Abiodun’s second term bid .
The monarch who spoke in Yoruba said the Yewaland would support the second term bid of Abiodun .
The Ogun west which comprises Yewa and Awori had not produced governor since th creation of the state in 1976.
Oba Olugbenle while giving his goodwill message at the event organised by League of Imams and Alfas in the state, said those who were contesting against Abiodun’s second term bid did not consult him before they threw their caps into the ring .
He said “It has not come to our turn . We are not in a hurry to produce the governor in this coming election .
“We are supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun and I want to tell you Mr Governor that you should not be afraid .
” We are not aware of their political move. Don’t be afraid , we are supporting your second term.”
He however expressed fear over 2027 political game , begging Egba and Ijebu leaders to rally round him to produce fist ever governor from the area .
He said “I will beg my people in Ijebu and Egbaland to support me in the 2027 election .”
The former deputy governor and the Iyalode of Yorubaland ,Iyalode Alaba Lawson also joined the monarch and threw their support behind the governor’s second term .
Badru while making her acceptance speech said there was no vacancy in Oke-Mosan in 2023 and that the people in Yewa and other parts of the state have resolved to vote Abiodun second time as governor .
Bdru said “one good turn deserves another . Governor Abiodun has done well and he is going to be rewarded with second term election ”
Also speaking at the event , Lawson said she is going to work and ensure Abiodun is re elected as governor of the state .
“I am serious . Our governor will go for second time. He has done well .”
