In the efforts to enhanced the Information Communication Technology skills of sons and daughters of Imala Community, His Royal Majesty Oba (Apostle) Moses Adelani Olabode Omola of Imala land in collaboration with Providence Vocational Academy (PVA) has declared that Imala Community would soon be connected to the world through ICT.
The Oba made this declaration over the weekend during an official commissioning of the ICT HUB of Providence Vocational Academy in Apata, Orile Idofoi, Imala.
Oba Moses Adelaji Olabode, represented by his Personal Assistant, Comrade Oguntoyinbo Bolaji Johnson, thanked the management and staffs of Providence Vocational Academy for setting up the facility in the community.
He added that, the 24-seater ICT Hub was a big plus for opening up Imala to the global community.
The monarch said, and I quote, “It is high time for Imala indigene realize what God is giving us in Imala” adding that the youths would be able to set up a viable and efficiently operate their ICT business center, manage an internet Cafe and carry out video recording and editing as well as execute computer networking system anywhere.
He urged all Imala sons and daughters’ home and abroad to support this vision by donating generously towards the maintenance and further improvement of the ICT Hub and keep the dreams alive.
Speaking, Pastor Cyril Isaac Eluma, Head of Operations of Providence Vocational Academy Congratulates all students, particularly Imala indigenes and called on them to take advantage of this golden opportunity to become ICT literates.
He said the vision of the institution is to offer Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) to Imalians that will transform the community. "We cannot be limited to just one skill set. Thus, in our quest to provide different skill sets as a Technical and Vocational Education Training institution, we are expanding our programs. We started with Farm Management, we have introduced construction skills, plumbing to be specific. And today, we are dedicating our information and communication technology (ICT) HUB. Once the trained manpower is unleashed on our community and beyond, they would be catalysts in opening this community to the international world”, he said.
The new training facility is designed to be a 24-seater ICT HUB when fully equipped to operate at it is maximum capacity. Presently, it is equipped with essential facility and will provide 24 hours internet service to students, E-library and computer software for effective training" He said.
Cyril Eluma said that PVA would also enhance the ICT skills, Graphics design, video editing, hard ware maintenance and networking, stressing that students will be equipped with A-Z about Microsoft office at the Academy.
Appreciating the Royal father for the privilege to site the ICT facility in the community, Dr. Eric Ighalo said Imala community and its environs would immensely benefit from what the Academy would offer.
He said, Providence Vocational Academy is a government registered institute under NBTE and so qualifies to register students for NAPTEP examination. He added that the dream is to expose students of Imala, Ayetoro, Olorunda, Obada, Owode-Idi Ayin, Imeko Afon Local Government to internet facility that would connect them to the world.
Dr Anthony Okojie, representing the MD, NIIT Lagos operational center said no knowledge is a waste as the Academy will train students and youth on wealth creation through the use of the facility, advising them to be good ambassador of the Academy.
The event had in attendance Chief Oguntoyinbo Bolaji Johnson, Chief Samson Olawore (Apena), Chief Ajani Adetayo (Asipa), Chief Toye Afolabi (Ekerin), Chief Ishola Towolawi(Onlado), Chief Mrs Muyibat Mosaku(Iyaloja) and Chief Bashir Abdulahi(Baala).
