Police tasks youths to report their grievances to appropriate authority in Ogun

 The Police Command in Ogun, has advised  youths around Iju area of Ota-Idiroko expressway,to always report their grievances to appropriate authority rather than blocking the road.

The Police spokesperson in the state,SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, gave the advice while speaking with the pressmen in Abeokuta.

Oyeyemi noted that blocking the the expressway would only compact the problem of the motorists and residents around the axis.

“It is never  the solution to the incessant cases of accidents happening on the road rather they should appeal to the appropriate authority to listen to the plights of the people.

“Youths can simply appeal to the government that has something to do something on the road whether they would expand the roads rather than blocking the road to cause unnecessary hardships to those going for their lawful businesses.”he said.

Mr Opeyemi Shotade,a motorists,said that incident was unfortunate,adding that he had been in the traffic gridlocks for over 3 hours.

Shotade said that blocking the expressway by the youths was uncalled because they inflicted untold hardship on innocent people going to their working places and businesses.

He, therefore,appealed to the Federal and State Government to collaborate to expand and rehabilitate the Iju bridge and the Ota-Idiroko expressway.

The Zonal Commander, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps,Mr Adekunle Ajibade,said that the personnel and other sister agencies were on ground to control the traffic gridlocks caused by the angry youths in order to ease the free flow of traffic on the expressway.

Ajibade implored motorists in the traffic gridlocks to cooperate with the TRACE personnel and other sister agencies to reduce their sufferings and time spent in the traffic gridlocks.

The Olota of Ota, Oba Adeyemi Abdulkabir, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area,Ogun,who was presence at scene where the road was blocked,appealed to the youths to always be patient and calm.

Oba Abdulkabir urged them not to take law into their hands but they should report their grievances to the appropriate channel.

NAN reports that the youths around Iju area and its environs, blocked the Ota-Idiroko expressway, due to the multiple accident,which claimed 2 lives and injured 28 people along Ota-Idiroko expressway on Thursday.

NAN reports that a similar accident killed five persons and injured one person on Sept.7, along Iju bridge on Ota-Idiroko expressway.

However,many people were seen trafficking to their various destinations,while few buses were also available at various Bus-Stop,thus making people to be stranded.
