Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation ( OPIC) is planning to build an Eco-Industrial Park along Ijebu-Ode-Mujoda Epe Expressway in the State, subject to the Governor’s approval.
The Special Adviser and Managing Director, OPIC, Arc. Abiodun Fari-Arole dropped the hint during the annual Treasury Board Meeting on the year 2023- 2025 Medium Term Expenditure Frame- Work (MTEF) and 2023 Budget in Abeokuta.
Fari-Arole said the park would help in reducing waste and pollution, assist in achieving sustainable development and also increase the revenue base of the State.
“I have some partners in Malaysia. We have discussed on designing of Eco-Industrial Park, using Malaysia as a case study. Everybody is going green to reduce industrial pollution coming from generators and so on”, he added.
The OPIC boss pointed out that 75 percent of the Corporation’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), depended majorly on sales of lands and construction of medium and high-earned structures, appealing to the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to allocate lands to the Corporation, especially along Siun and Ijebu-Ode-Mujoda-Epe areas, to effectively construct more housing projects for the citizenry.
Speaking, Governor Abiodun, lauded the Corporation for its notable achievements in housing delivery, particularly the Kings Court Estate Phase I, commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari and the ongoing construction of Kings Court Estate Phase II, noting that the various housing developmental strides had further built the trust of the people and investors in the government.
Abiodun assured that more lands would be allocated to the Corporation, to further execute housing projects, stating that the previous projects had created job opportunities for artisans in the State.
