Otegbeye reunites with brethren, awards scholarships to children

By Our Correspondent

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the 2023 election, Barrister Biyi Otegbeye, has awarded scholarships to sixteen children in the current academic session for their sterling performance during a display at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Yewa Diocese, Ilaro, on Sunday, 13th November 2022.

He made this known when he spoke as a Special Guest of Honour at the Church's 2022 Adult Harvest and Thanksgiving ceremony.

Speaking against the background of the apparent poverty and starvation in the land Otegbeye reflected on the book of Kings in the Holy Bible, where Prophet Elisha made the announcement to the people of Samaria that there shall be food in abundance the following day against the starvation in the land.

He reminded the gathering how a man come forth to express  doubt over the prophecy but Prophet Elisha told him he would see the abundance but won't  partake of it.

Otegbeye then said he would emerge as the next Governor of Ogun State following the 2023 election by God's grace, adding that there will be no deprivation and the citizens will have a taste of good governance of his administration.

He used the opportunity to remind the congregation of the roles played by his late father,  Pa Festhus Oladunjoye Otegbeye, in the advancement of God's work in the church.

In his sermon, Ven. Olusola Ladipo Ajayi made it known that he came across Otegbeye  at the University of Lagos about 40years ago where  they used to read and exchange knowledge.

According to Ven. Ajayi, Otegbeye did not make his wealth through shortcut or yahoo-yahoo related means but through Risk Management business, Insurance.

Ven. Olusola Ladipo Ajayi, therefore, admonished all parents to put their offsprings in the path of honour, so that they will not see  yahoo-yahoo as a way of life to secure wealth.

Among the personalities at the event with the included Rt. Hon. Muyiwa Oladipo, Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, Engr. Tomi Akintomide, Alhaji Raheem Ajayi, Omoba Bolaji Adeniji, Elder Sunday Otegbeye, Dr Banji Ogunbiyi, and Hon. Jimoh Taiwo.
