Two self-acclaimed Chiefs, Village head sacked in Ogun

The self acclaimed Akogun of Orile Ilawo, Chief Lawrence Ogunsanya and one Chief Olabanji Ogunbona who has been parading himself as the Ogboye of Ilawo have been sacked from Orile- Ilawo traditional council.

Also removed is the Baale of Ariku who was asked to stop parading himself as the Baale of the town.

The decision of the council was conveyed by the Osi of Orile -Ilawo, Chief Ajani Olufade who briefed Journalists after a meeting held recently.

Chief Olufade and other Chiefs present at the meeting said Chief Ogunsanya who had been parading himself as Akogun of Orile Ilawo was never installed as a Chief in the town as the position of Akogun was not vacant and there can't be two chiefs with same title in the town.

The Chiefs also hinged their position on the directive from the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, who is the consenting authority that any Chief or Baale who did not have the certificate issued by the Osile should stop parading himself as Chief in the town.

The Chiefs were also alleged of undermining the authority of Osile of Oke-Ona and their purported title has therefore been revoked

Chief Olufade noted that while Orile Ilawo traditional council would continue to encourage indigenes of the town to be part of its developmental efforts in all manners and at all times, it would ensure that basic traditional approaches and due processes are firmly upheld.

To bring sanity to Chieftaincy and allied matters in the town, Chief Olufade said the council is left with no option but to take the drastic action.

The Orile Ilawo traditional council however assures that matters of core interest to Orile Ilawo township would always be given due considerations and adequate priorities.

They further assured Orile Ilawo indegines that fairness, justice and equity would never be compromised in the handling of traditional matters in the town and urged them to continue to live in peace and tranquility with one another.
