The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has blamed reckless driving and overspeeding for truck and container accidents that occurred at different locations in the metropolis over the night in Lagos State.
The accident occured at ikeja area when an articulated truck with registration number MUS 41 XY, laden with a 40feet Container crushed 2 Tricycles (Keke NAPEP),registration numbers KRD 276QM and AAA 227 QM respectively, while ascending the hill, inward Kudirat Abiola way, blocking the entire carriage way.
Fortunately, it was gathered that there were no casualties, nor fatalities involved as the agency said, on Thursday 11, the agency are working tirelessly at the scene to clear the roads that would otherwise have been shut down by the road traffic incidents.
In a statement issued by its Director-General/CEO, Dr Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, it states that the accident happened inward Kudirat Abiola Way, in ikeja area which resulted in a container that fell on 2 tricycles at the scene of the incident.
He further said that following the distress call via the agency’s Emergency Toll-Free Lines, it was reported that an articulated truck, with a registration number MUS 41 XY, laden with a 40feet container suffered mechanical error, rolled back and crushed 2 Tricycles (Keke NAPEP), Registration Numbers KRD 276QM and AAA 227 QM respectively, while ascending the hill, inward Kudirat Abiola way, blocking the entire carriage way.
The State Emergency Response that was in attendance were LASEMA team, LRT and LASTMA,and operation still ongoing at the scene.
