I am not surprised that Gbenga Daniel, the former Governor of Ogun state who is well known for his devilish style of politics is on the verge of bringing back his old days of political rascality, backstabbing, devilment, devilry, mischievousness, roguishness and shenanigan into the state.
Gbenga Daniel, a human embodiment of the deadliest animal forays into Ogun politics with fangs of the most deadly venomous, calculated precision and a trail of destruction in his heart. On account of his reign as the governor of the state between 2003 to 2011, OGD exhibited the most ruthless cunning instincts.
He is the most intolerant leader in the history of our dear state. Just as the deadliest animal dominates its ecosystem, OGD dominates the state, effortlessly asserting its dominance. Crossing paths with him, when he is the governor means facing the true power of the deadliest animal.
Upon all his political grandstanding, power drunkenness and gangsterism exhibited during his tenure as governor, he was bashed, castrated and disarmed politically for a good eight years of Amosun government.
During former Governor Ibikunle Amosun's tenure, OGD became a political orphan and scavenger. Once upon a roaring lion suddenly lost his thundering voice in his usually denoting characteristic manner of speaking and unrestrained command. All the properties he acquired when he was the governor were seized by his successor.
Even though he contributed meagre to the emergence of the Dapo Abiodun victory but he majorly shared in the success story of the governor. OGD was given a new lease of full life politically with the emergence of Governor Dapo Abildun in 2019. He rode on the victory of Governor Dapo Abiodun to resuscitate and awaken his dead politics. Someone who has gone into political extinction reverberated from the graveyard.
If not for the tolerance of Governor Dapo Abiodun who believes in peaceful coexistence, combined with the intervention of the Awujale of Ijebuland and the intervention of the national leader of the APC, Aremo Segun Osoba, Senator Lekan Mustapha would have defeated OGD at the APC Senatorial primary election roundly and flatly.
It is important to note the phrase that says, "A leopard can't change its spots”. This expression explains the idea that no one can change the innate nature of human beings. This traditional saying refers to a person's bad personality or character that cannot be changed, even if that person pretends to change it.
OGD with his usual bad mindset begin anti-party activities against the party, the governor of the state and the entire APC in Ogun state immediately he became Senator-Elect for Ogun East Senatorial District.
In recent times, again, OGD has shifted its dagger of war to the Secretary to the State Government of Ogun state, Mr Tokunbo Talabi. He is gathering all political squadrons and regiments to ensure that the SSG is crushed from his domain in Ogun East.
SSG, a strong front loyalist and a strong force in the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun has become another target of Senator Gbenga Daniel. We are reliably informed that OGD has hired some spurious and phony media individuals from Lagos state to launch unprovoked attacks, media opprobrium, disparage, aspersion and fault finding against the person of the SSG, Mr Tokunbo Talabi and his private company, Superflux.
OGD, since he was given a new lease of life in APC, he has been subjecting the SSG to all forms of persecution. The attacks against the SSG are aimed at diverting his attention from the ongoing delivery of good governance in the state undertaken by the government of Prince Dapo Abiodun.
OGD is the chief promoter and financier of one Femi Oniyide who wrote a frivolous petition against Mr Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, over some fake and unreliable allegations.
Tokunbo Talabi we know, is a reliable banker, boardroom person, entrepreneur and private investor of many years. As the Secretary to the Government of Ogun State, he has exhibited exceptional leadership qualities, dedication, and commitment to the development of Ogun State. He has continued to contribute his wealth of experience and expertise to the growth and progress of the state.
OGD's return to the political glare is the return of a moronic devil incarnate that has been banished from the land a long time ago. Those who know him should advise him to tow the path of honour and choose to be an 'Omoluwabi' so as not to end ingloriously.
