An international and Chelsea legend, Didier Drogba, has been appointed head coach of his country’s football national team.
Drogba while disclosing his four-year contract said he is expected to win the next two Africa Cup of Nations ( 2024 and 2025) and leading Cote d’Ivoire to win the 2026 World Cup.
“It’s a pleasure for me to be back in Africa and starting my coaching career with my country. I talked with Yaya Touré to join me as an assistant coach and I’m waiting for his decision, maybe he will accept to join me”, he said.
He went further, “The president of the country sir Alassane Ouattara wants to see Cote d’Ivoire players holding the 2026 World Cup title, I will be expelled from my country definitely and my nationality will be withdrawn from me if I do not achieve this goal,” he said at a press conference.
It’s the first experience for Drogba in his coaching career as a coach after getting the UEFA PRO license.
