Men of Ogun State Police command has arrested one Sunday Dosunmu, 53, a prison returnee , while trying to use fabricated Master keys to unlock and steal cars at Leme area of Abeokuta on Saturday.
SP Omolola Odutola, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) disclosed this in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Sunday.
According to Odutola, the unrepentant car snatcher had in September 17, 2022 apprehended by Divisional Police Officer, Kemta division, CSP Adeniyi Adekunle, while trying to steal a car from park along with his syndicate.
The PPRO noted that the suspect was recently released from prison and had resumed same act he was previously arrested for.
”Yesterday, August 12, 2023 , at about 7:30pm along Leme, Ogun State, Sunday in his habitual act was caught again by youths of that area while using fabricated master keys to unlock some cars.
“People who saw him raised the alarm which made him to run, but how far can a 53-year- old man run.
” The young guys gave him a hot chase and caught up with him, they later alerted the police team that visited the scene and arrested the suspect,” she said.
Odutola explained that two fabricated iron master keys was found in his possession , saying it was part of the instrument used to unlock unsuspecting car owners vehicles.
She stated that the police would prosecute him to ensure that justice was served since he had not repented irrespective of his age.
The PPRO added that the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu had directed that thorough evidences were brought forward to the Court so as to ensure the suspect learnt his lessons.
