A former Nigerian international and respected football veteran, Osaze Odemwingie, has expressed his concerns regarding the current style of play of the Super Eagles. The former Nigerian star revealed the differences he noticed in the Super Eagles on Channels TV while discussing the ongoing AFCON games.
Addressing the topic, Osaze said, "The boys leave nothing on the pitch, but I will like to see more convincing wins. Our last game was against South Africa, and I remember that my game against South Africa was the first AFCON game for me. However, we won 4-0. I will like to see the Super Eagles become the giants on this stage and have a convincing victory in the group stage. So far, I have not seen it because we are playing a little bit defensively.
He added, "What we used to see from Nigeria is a little bit different this year. It is a bit less creative in the middle, and the more hardworking players keep it simple. We are playing three at the back. What makes a difference for us is that we have skilled wingers and a fast striker who is good with crosses. We have no complaints. It does not look like the Nigeria that we know. However, the result is more important for now.
