The 13th of June, 2024, will mark the first year anniversary of the Senator, H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel who was elected as Senator to represent Ogun East Senatorial District, in the 2023 elections.
Today, as an electorate in his Senatorial District and an ardent follower of the Senator, I want to celebrate him now that he still has his breath.
OGD as he's fondly called, is an immeasurable advocate for home made products, human capacity development and social justice. He is a visionary leader whose insight has turned around lives for development.
On Saturday, 25th of February, 2023, the people of Ogun East irrespective of political affiliations trooped out and voted for H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel as their Senator. An election which remains on record as the only election that goes unchallenged in court.
As electorates, “You are free to choose, but the choices you make today will determine what you have...”— Zig Ziglar and today, indeed, the choice made by Ogun East Senatorial District has impacted positively on the electorates as the choice they made is reaching out, touching lives and turning lives around for good as well giving hope to the hopeless.
The Choice made by Ogun East Senatorial District started yielding its expected results immediately without time wasting.
- Ogun East Market Women got the first wind of benevolence by the Senator who supported their business with a soft non-interest charging loan. This is aimed at making their business expand without the hurdle of refunding money with burden of heavy interests. The second phase of the soft non interest loan would be launched in a short time.
- He took urgent steps to save the people of Sagamu from incessant floods which had ravaged their lands. This was made possible as he yielded positive response from NEMA.
- He didn't stop at that, he facilitated the renovation of schools in Sagamu and another building of fencing for security of lives and property considering the level of insecurities in the land at Omu Ijebu.
- Knowing the significance of eyesight to mankind and the level at which partial blindness has ravaged the people especially the aged, The Senator, H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel rolled out his Gateway Foundation Medical Team which tested and gave out medical glasses to the people to aid their sights and take them out of blindness. This was done across the 9 Local Governments of Ogun East Senatorial District.
- Otunba Gbenga Daniel a strong advocate of home products and agriculture, lend his helping hands to Farmers in Ogun East to boast farm produce and food availability by providing for them, fertilizers in hundreds without costing them any thing.
"He who gives water gives live"... Ijebu Ode and Ago Iwoye communities got a Borehole each for easy access to drinkable water.
Before now, H.E OGD gave students form each ward in the 9 Local Government Scholarships, many of whom are now serving the national under the NYSC scheme
It is a fact that in the history of the Senatorial District, no elected Senator has returned to the electorates to officially say thank you as it is today. In his usual style to appreciate his people, the Senator has started the tour of the districts to thank those who believe in him and voted for him enmass which is being done in grand style as people who turned out for the event go home filled with joy, the hope of the hopeless kindled and smiles on the faces of the aggrieved/bittered.
The choice made has impacted Ogun East Senatorial District positively and the aftermath effects will soon be glaring for all to see judging by the significance and numbers of bills sponsored thus far by the Senator.
Media Practitioners Registration Council : This bill when passed into law will help protect and guide the practitioners and media space and as well promote professionalism.
Bill for the establishment of National Academy of Science : This will boost and promote science and as well push the nation ahead in science exploitation and knowledge sharing with the rest of the world.
Bill for the establishment of Federal University of Industrial and Petro - Gas in Ogun Waterside : Which will enhance the social economy of Ogun Waterside, expose the community and its potential to the world and improve the standard of living around the community among other doors of opportunities that would be opened which includes job opportunities.
Federal College of Aviation Technology which is expected to be sited at Ilara Remo : Another door of opportunities for the people of Ogun East as the institution if established will be the first of it kind. The opportunities are enormous as this can only be envisaged by a visionary personality.
In a Year of being in the National Assembly and as a first timer, OGD has surpassed standards, proven to be the right choice who has placed his people in high esteem and ready to serve them better as his tenure of office at the Senate continues.
The Senator H.E Otunba Gbenga Daniel clocked a year in Office, I joined the rest of my Ward (Itele Ward, Ijebu East Local Government, Ogun East East) and the rest of the wards to say Indeed, your choice as our Senator is the right choice.
