Alleged govt land lease: Ogun Assembly summons Olu of Itori

By Our Correspondent

The Ogun State House of Assembly, yesterday, invited the Olu of Itori, in the Ewekoro local government area of the state, Oba Abdulfatai Akorede Akamo, over his alleged involvement in the lease of land belonging to Ewekoro council area.

Recall that the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption is currently probing the immediate past Chairman of Ewekoro local government, Mr Sikiru Adesina over allegations of illegal sales of government and properties in the Council area.

The Assembly had earlier summoned the member representing Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Mr Ibrahim Isiaka who was unavoidably absent.

Isiaka was said to have excused himself from honouring the Assembly’s invitation on the grounds of ill health, stressing that he had proceeded on medical vacation out of the country.

The monarch, who was also alleged to have, at various times, leased some of the local government land at ridiculous fees, was summoned to appear before the Assembly at its next hearing.

The Assembly is probing allegations of fraud levelled against the immediate past council chairman, Mr Adesina for leasing government land to some politicians and individuals for 99 years without following the due process.

The Assembly’s Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption, chaired by Mr Bello Oluwadamilare having heard different arguments from past chairmen, stakeholders and surveyors of the local government, however, called on the monarch and others to appear before it, as their names became prominent in the investigation.
