Lagos Reporters has learned that the stagnant flood that has taken over the popular Jankara market in Lagos Island for over 8 years remains unresolved, despite Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's visit to the area 11 months ago.
Traders and residents are voicing their frustration, calling on the governor to fulfill his promise to restore their roads as fear of disease outbreak heightens. Customers are refusing to patronize them due to the flood, which has also affected King Ado High School, where students have been forced to attend classes wading through stagnant water.
The Jankara area, a bustling urban hub in Lagos Island, is home to many businesses and traders, but the persistent flood has made life unbearable for those living and working there.
The community is urging Governor Sanwo-Olu to take immediate action to restore their road and prevent the outbreak of skin infections and other diseases.
