By Our Correspondent

Three police officers arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola, a student of Kwara State Polytechnic, have been dismissed from the police force.

According to reports, the officers were transferred from Ilorin to the Abuja Police Headquarters, where a discreet investigation into the student’s death was conducted. The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the case to be moved to Abuja for a thorough probe.

Abdulqoyyum Abdulyekeen Ishola was allegedly killed on September 4, 2024, by the three officers in the GRA area of Ilorin. The incident has sparked outrage, with the management and the Student Union Government (SUG) of the polytechnic demanding justice.

Kwara State Police Commissioner, Victor Olaiya, also pledged to ensure that justice is served for both the victim’s family and the wider community, emphasizing his commitment to uncovering the truth.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Kwara State Command, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated that she had not yet received official confirmation regarding the dismissal of the officers.

“I am yet to receive any information regarding the dismissal of the three police operatives,” she said on Friday in Ilorin.
