The Ogun State Youth Leaders' Forum strongly condemns the Gestapo-style arrest of Comrade Babatunde Aremu, All Progressives Congress (APC) State Youth Leader in Ijebu Ode.
The Forum expresses outrage and disappointment at the manner of Aremu's arrest by unidentified individuals, which undermines human rights and the rule of law. We demand immediate clarification on the circumstances surrounding his arrest and call for his unconditional release within 24 hours.
We urge the Department of State Services (DSS) to either press charges or grant him freedom, as dictated by the law. This incident highlights systemic oppression faced by Ogun State youths.
This incident is a stark reminder of the systemic oppression faced by Ogun State youths, particularly during the 2019 events at Mko Stadium. We will not stand idly by while agents of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), masquerading as APC members, continue to perpetuate violence and intimidation.
We stand behind Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun, a champion of youth empowerment and development, who has fostered peace and stability in our state.
We demand:
- Immediate release of Comrade Babatunde Aremu
- Transparency regarding the reasons for his arrest
- Respect for human rights and the rule of law
- End to oppression of Ogun State youths
Signed,
Hon. Sabur Adefolu
Assistant State Youth Leader
Comrade Timothy Odedina
Public Relations Officer, Ogun State Youth Leaders' Forum
