Ogun State government has awarded reconstruction of Ilara-Ilishan road, cutting across Remo North and Ikenne Local Government Areas of the state.
The state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun made this known during the grand finale of Afotamodi Day celebration, themed; ‘’A legacy of Culture and Tradition’’, at the AUD Primary School, Isara-Remo.
Abiodun added that his administration had reawarded the reconstruction of Awolowo road in Ikenne local government area, following the inability of the initial contractor to complete the project, as well as phase three of Sagamu-Iperu-Ode-Saapade road, promising that the project would be completed in record time.
He said, "I am saddened by the change of event on the contract we awarded for the Awolowo way, the contractor is indisposed at the moment as a result he cannot complete the contract. I have directed that the contract be cancelled and reawarded to another contractor, very soon, that road project will be completed.
" We have also awarded the contract from Ilara to Ilishan, the road that was affected by the airport is about 8 kilometers, the contractor has resumed and commenced work, the road will pass through Ode to Akaka, it is a very long road. By the grace of God, that road will soon be completed.
Governor Abiodun, who donated a sum of N20m towards the community development of Isara-Remo, appreciated the people of the town for their contributions to the success of his administration, promising his continued support for the area.
He stated that celebration of the Afotamodi festival preserves the culture, history and tradition of Isara-Remo for the unborn generation, expressing optimism that the event would continue to foster a strong spirit of unity for growth and development of the town.
Earlier in his remarks, Odemo of Isara-Remo, Oba Adebose Mayungbe, commended the sons and daughters of the town for their love and appreciated Governor Abiodun for supporting the people of Isara-Remo.
