Nigeria has officially established itself as the country with the most CAF Player of the Year Awards, boasting an impressive total of seven accolades.
This remarkable achievement highlights the nation’s rich footballing heritage and the abundance of talent that continues to emerge from its ranks.
Notably, Nigeria is the only country to have won the CAF Player of the Year Award in two consecutive years on three separate occasions, with different players taking home the honor each time.
The list of illustrious winners includes Rashidi Yekini in 1993, Emmanuel Amuneke in 1994, Kanu Nwankwo in both 1996 and 1999, Victor Ikpeba in 1997, Victor Osimhen in 2023, and most recently, Ademola Lookman in 2024.
