Ogun monarch approve new Ogboni cheifs

The Olu of Orile Ilawo, Oba Olusegun Alexander MacGregor has approved the presentation and installation of four principal chiefs to head the affairs of the Ile Ogboni.

Oba MacGregor made this announcement while speaking with journalists last Thursday in Abeokuta, the state capital.

He said the new chiefs approved will now continue to see the affairs of the Ile Ogboni, pending the time other chiefs will be approved for the vacant seats.

Recall that Oba MacGregor sacked ten cheifs few weeks ago, on the allegations of illegal sales of community lands, gross insubordination, flagrant disrespect to the stool and authority.

Chief Oluwole Dosunmu, Oluwo; Chief Abraham Soyoye, Balogun; Fatai Sodimu, Jagunna. and Seven others were all relieved from their position by the monarch.

The new cheifs include: Alhaji Ishaq Adesanya as the Balogun, Chief Rasheed Egberongbe as the Jagunna, Chief Ayinde Onifade as the Baala, and Chief Akin Segun Bankole as the Aro of Ilawo kingdom.

Other new cheifs include Erelu Fatimo Kadejo as the Osi Lika; Erelu Kofoworola Sulaimon as gbe Omoriwafu; Erelu Jemilat Ayede as the Yeye Oge; Erelu Muyibat Ọyaọṣọ as the Mosade; Erelu Ogundimu Popoola as Ajigbeda; and Erelu Taiwo Adebayo as Ekerin Lika.

Oba MacGregor said these new cheifs had been vetted with integrity before approving them for the vacant seats.

He added that while he is still looking for people to fill the remaining vacant seats, Oba MacGregor noted that he will never approve those with cunning attitudes into the affairs of Ilawo kingdom.

"These people you are seeing are highly respected and were all reserved, I have watch them for many years to see the position each of them fits in the affairs of Ilawo kingdom.

"We don't want those who will sell all our lands, or those who will tarnish our image in the public. Ilawo is a respected town in Egbaland, and we must prove that to the people.

"There are still vacant seats like Oluwo and others, we still need more cheifs in Ilawo, Lukosi, among others. Whenever Ogbonis started their meeting back, you should all obey whatever instructions given to you.

"No going back on those who were sacked recently, they are not ready to turn a new leave, and we can no longer condone with their self-centred attitude."
