YNLG SEEKS COLLABORATION WITH AMOTEKUN IN TACKLING INSECURITY

      Provision of adequate security of lives and property requires collaboration with necessary security Agencies particularly at the grassroots

     

       The Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Dr. Olusola Akinbode, disclosed this while monitoring the screening and recruitment exercise of the South West Security Outfit co-named 'AMOTEKUN’ in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government, saying collaboration with the security outfit among other sister security Agencies would go a long way in tackling insecurity confronting the Council.

    

        ‘’As an ambassador of the Governor of Ogun State at the grassroot who is paying serious attention to the security of lives and property, that is why there is relative peace across the state. We will continue to complement this and partner with the security agencies in the state, not only support them with transport and logistics but also with funding to carry out their security operations’’, he said.  

     

        In his submission, the Ogun State Commandant of Amotekun, Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba, assured the Council Chairman of the outfit’s collaboration towards boosting security at the grassroots. He thanked the state government led by Prince Dapo Abiodun for approving the recruitment of additional 750 personnel, the procurement of 100 Patrol Vehicles, 200 Motorcycles, Communication gadgets to enhance their operations, adding that the screening exercise would cut across the four zones.

   

      He said Ayetoro Zone would have applicants from Yewa North, Imeko/Afon and Abeokuta North, that of Ijebu-Ode Zone would be from all the Local Governments in Ijebu, while Ilaro Zone would have applicants from Yewa South, Ipokia, and Ado-Odo/Ota and Abeokuta Zone would have applicants from Abeokuta South, Odeda, Obafemi Owode and Ewekoro, adding that each of the 236 wards would have at least three slots.

     

     In their separate remarks, some of the applicants at the screening, Messrs Olusola Ojekunle, Akinrewusi Adekunle and Mrs. Afusat Okeowo, commended the efforts of the state government at boosting security at the grassroots, promising to be dedicated and resourceful if their applications were considered.

    

      Meanwhile, during a courtesy visit to Alaye of Ayetoro and Alaye in Council in his palace, the Monarch speaking through Asiwaju of Ayetoro, Chief Kunle Amosun commended the South West Governors for adopting the South Western Security Outfit, ‘Amotekun’, a feat which would go a long way in curbing insecurity.

      

   The monarch said the outfit would complement efforts of existing security agencies in the fight against crime and protection of lives and property across communities in the South-West.

      

   In his response, the Commandant, Brigadier General Alade Adedigba appreciated the warm reception by his kinsmen and assured that the recruitment process would consider indigenes who know the terrain of the communities to make their work effective and promised to work in partnership with traditional rulers for utmost performance of the outfit in all 20 Local Governments of the state
