The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Kunle Salako yesterday 9th March held a special Ramadan Tafsir and Iftar in honour of his late father, Alhaji Yunus Akande Omotosho Salako (aka Asallam Ailekum), his late mother Alhaja Fadilat Anike Salako and his late step mother, Alhaja Safiat Asabi Salako. The event held at Yewa North Local Government Primary School football field Saala quarters, Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State came 4 days after the burial of his mother who died on Wednesday 6th of March, 2025 at the age of 95 years.
The Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammed Ali Pate CON represented the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola. Ahmed Tinubu GCFR at the event. The president admonished Dr. Salako and the family to emulate the good deeds of their parents and pray for divine enablement for them to stay on the goods path their dear departed parents have shown.
The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr (Mrs) Noimot Salako Oyedele, who represented the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, read the letter with which the governor expressed his deep condolences to Dr. Iziaq Salako on the demise of his mother.
Professor Isiaq Oloyede, Secretary General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), who chaired the event used the opportunity to call on all Muslims to unite in accordance with Quranic injuctions and the sunnah of the Holy Prophet. Professor Oloyede eulogized Dr. Iziaq Salako for his steadfastness and intellectual contribution to the NSCIA. He further went on to describe Dr. Salako as a pride to his community and to Islam.
In his lecture, the guest lecturer, Professor Saheed Olurotimi Timehin from Lagos State University (LASU), condoled with the Minister of State for Health on the demise of his mother quoting from the Holy Koran to underscore that Almighty Allah did not promise parents they will die before their children neither did he promise children that they will outlive their parents. He also called for the unity of the Muslim umah and admonished Muslims to be good to everyone in accordance with the teaching of the Holy Prophet that "be nice, be kind to the entire humanity if they are not your brothers in faith, they are your brothers in humanity”.

Jimoh Olaifa, former House of Representative member, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, Secretary to Ogun State Government, Mr. Toyin Taiwo, Chief of Staff to Ogun State Governor, Rt Hon Suraju Adekumbi, former Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Jagunmolu Jamiu Omoniyi, Commissioner for Housing, Ogun State, Mr Olaolu Olabimtan, Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ogun State, Alhaji Wasiu Isiaka, Commissioner for Youth and Sport and Mrs Olufunmilayo Afuape, Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs. Heads of several federal tertiary health institutions, regulatory bodies and agencies were also present.
The list of dignitaries also included Hon. Babatunde Olaotan, Special Adviser to Ogun State Governor on Government House, Hon. Sherrif Yussuf, Hon. Lamidi Olatunji, Hon. Adegoke Adeyanju, Hon. Dr. Tunde Tella and Hon. Bisi Oyedele - Citiside, all house of assembly members. Chief Yemi Sanusi, Chairman, APC Ogun State, was represented by Alhaji Muhammed Azeez, Ogun West Senatorial Chairman, and other members of the State exco of APC. Also present were Chief Olu Agemo, Alhaji Bisiriyu Popoola, Alhaji Alli Ajibode, Hon. Chief Kunle Adesina, Chief Mrs Yemisi Abass, Iyaloja General, Ogun State, Dr.Yemisi Bamgbose, Professor Segun Awonusi, Olootu Dipo Sofowora, Dr Babatunde Ipaye, Ajiroba Dapo Oke, Prince Femi Dokunmu, Chief Abiodun Elegbede, Hon. In his vote of thanks, Dr. Iziaq Salako eulogised his late parents for the upbringing they imparted on him and his siblings. He used the opportunity to call for tolerance, love, and compassion within families and in the country. Special prayers were conducted for Ogun State, Mr. President and the country by selected Islamic clerics.
